Today is my son Salim's third birthday, and I thought it was a well-suited time to finally start, and commit, to a blog about the life of my family. Three is a very magickal number: the triple goddess; symbolic combination or body, mind and spirit; it represents a level of completion. According to Z. Budapest in "Summoning the Fates," children are little sages at this time. Salim is finally old enough to express thoughts and experiences clearly, however he is still very connected to the spirit world, thus it's a unique time in a child's life where parents can catch a glimpse into the spirit world experiences of our children.
Of course, when a child is born, so is a mother. Giving birth is a very powerful, spiritual experience that connects women deeply to the Great Mother whether it is intellectualized as archetypal or spiritual, it's an experience few women can deny. So, today on the birthday of my son, and myself as a mother, I begin this blog about life on this Green Spiral Path.
